Mark VII Customer Opens Showcase Express TunnelNovember
26, 2007 – Arvada, Colorado – Mark VII Equipment Inc., the US
subsidiary of WashTec AG of Germany, the leading supplier of
innovative solutions for the carwash business worldwide, announced
today the grand opening of The Glo, a new express exterior tunnel
carwash located near Mark VII’s factory.
The Glo is owned and operated by Mike Huggins, a Denver resident
and third-generation carwash operator, who previously managed
several other Denver area tunnels. His father Dale Huggins pioneered
exterior-only carwashing in 1970 at his Gas ‘n’ Glo carwash in
Detroit, Michigan.
“We’re proud that Mike selected Mark VII’s SoftLine™ tunnel
equipment for The Glo,” said Murray Kennedy, CEO of Mark VII. “It’s
a beautiful facility situated on a major commuter artery near Mark
VII, with no competing tunnels in the market area. We expect it will
be a showcase site both for Mike and for Mark VII.”
The Glo operates using the “express exterior” tunnel format,
where the goal is to give the customer a clean, dry and shiny car in
under five minutes, including wait time. The customer stays in the
vehicle while it’s pulled through the tunnel on a conveyor, and free
vacuums are available for customers to use upon exiting the tunnel.
The Glo is located at 6315 Sheridan Boulevard in Arvada, Colorado, a
suburb of Denver.
“We finally reached the finish line,” added Huggins. “Like any
new construction project it took longer than expected, but the
result was worth the wait. We fine-tuned the equipment to ensure the
highest-quality wash for our customers, and now we’re ready to
welcome them to the business.”
Mark VII announced its SoftLine™ tunnel equipment at the
International Carwash Association’s Car Care World Expo last March.
SoftLine blends Mark VII’s 40 years of touchfree carwash engineering
experience with friction technology from its German parent company
WashTec AG to offer a complete line of hybrid tunnel components.
